Allied Associates International (A2I) is seeking a Senior Vulnerability Research Engineer to join our team at Quantico in support of our government customer.  This position requires an active TS Clearance.


Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and oversight, combined with the ability to mentor junior personnel.
  • Proficiency in identifying discreet complex communications technologies that support investigative techniques.
  • Implement capabilities through reverse engineering (RE) and cryptanalysis (CA) for the purpose of exploiting the vulnerability to access data. 
  • Must have knowledge and skills pertaining to RE, CA, and developing simulations for complicated encryption products.
  • Vulnerability Exploitation (VE) capabilities – understanding collaboration between vulnerability analysis concepts and computational resource requirements. 
  • Proficiency in building attacks to recover passwords from encryption applications 
  • Proficiency in building attacks to decrypt cipher and recover plain text from encrypted communications. 
  • Collaborate with external and technical operational teams. 
  • Shape CA requirements to meet operational goals. 
  • Synthesize creative solutions from technical and operational information 
  • Identify collaborate and communicate operational requirements that enhance CA 
  • Perform vulnerability assessments of secure technologies for the purposes of implementing techniques to recover protected or inaccessible information 
  • Using tools and techniques developed for data recovery, provide technical assistance in support of Government cases assigned to the supported unit.
  • This position includes potentially handling and working on evidence as well as testifying in court about the work performed. 
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes/effecting changes.
  • Possess strong written/oral communications skills and interact with all levels of Government personnel.
  • Manage customer expectations by implementing proactive feedback mechanisms.
  • Prepare short presentations summarizing case support.
  • This position requires knowledge of adjacent Government units/organizations and ability to express cabilities and needs while conducting liaison/collaboration among organization stakeholders.


Required Skills:


The Senior Vulnerability Research Engineer must possess seven (7) or more years' experience in vulnerability research, and be capable of working in all of the following areas:

  • C programming in contemporary Windows and Linux/Unix software development environments
  • Experience using tools such as IDA Pro, OllyDbg, and Windbg to reverse engineer Windows applications and Windows kernel modules
  • Implementing cryptographic algorithms
  • Windows device driver development

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with network protocol analysis, static and dynamic malware analysis (iOS and Android) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of software engineering focusing on workflow automation of existing tools and products.

Education Requirement:  Candidate must hold a Bachelor's of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor's of Arts (B.A.) degree in a technical discipline (for example: engineering, mathematics, or computer science).


Clearance Requirement:  Active TS Clearance is required.
